Perfect Oni Konuya

...and at last, the last, last ending!

Following the destruction of the Oni Queen at the hands of Naruto, the twelve ninja who had been corrupted by the Oni Gems were miraculously resurrected to life, although they would never be quite the same again.  They retained all the powers of the Oni but were now totally freed from the darkness and greed of the Oni spirits.  What's more, they were now permanently bonded as sets of Twins, nearly-immortal teams who would shape the Ninja World for ages to come.

Now that they had their souls back, the Oni Twins felt quite a bit of guilt at the ordeal their desires had inflicted upon their comrades.  After a great council, they decided that they should go their separate ways and live in separate lands, so that they would neither be tempted to battle with one another, nor form again into the Oni Queen, should their the greed of the Oni spirits return...

...when the council of the Five Villages was held, Konan and Tayuya refused to take part, and instead fled into the wild lands to lick their wounds.  They detested on another, each blaming the other for their humiliating defeat to Tentamari... and yet they could not be separate for long, bound as they were by the connection they shared.  So they traveled in secret, for years, between the forlorn Rain and Sound Villages, acting as they saw fit -- helping those they felt pity for, and destroying any who angered them.  Tayuya, being a creature of dark slime, was shunned by most, while Konan -- hidden beneath a cloak of living petals -- avoided humanity whenever possible.

Much of their new life is therefore unknown and remains the stuff of rumor.  Some say they foolishly attempted to battle the other Oni Twins in hopes of reforming the Oni Queen again.  Others say they traveled the world seeking a way to regain their human bodies.  Both likely happened at different times...

...in the end, they grew accustomed to their new lives, and after decades of bickering, grew to respect and love one another.  It was only after they came to this understanding that they were finally able to merge into the singular being known as Konuya.  Konuya would one day join the others -- Sakurin, Inota, Ankenai, Tsunamei, and Tentemari -- in their quest to bring peace to the Ninja World.  And for ages the Onis served as guardians of humanity, unmatched in their strength and wisdom.
