So hey!

First off, here's a bit of fun.  My friend and i, we like to send funny drawings to The Drunken Peasants Podcast for their mail segment.  This week, they opened an envelope containing my recent photoshop of them as Star Trek characters, along with an abominable (but funny) joke drawing i drew a long time ago of a giant fat naked barbarian with a spiked dick sheath...

...yes.  You can see the goodness here:

I mean, it's pretty low-key.  But i just love the thought of TJ, Ben, Scotty, and Paul all seeing my work.  They touch my life, and i touch theirs.  Ohhhhhh yeaaaaaah.

It makes me happy.

.

So what else goes on?

My brother hit a deer with his car on the way home tonight.  He's okay, but his car is pretty messed up.

We're fewer than two months from moving away from here.  I'm still ambivalent about it.  The worst part will be that my drive to work will be even longer now.  And it's already long.  33 mi + 9 mi = 42 mi.  Damnit.

Right now, i'm working on some commissions, trying to finish some more of those character sheets.... but at some point this year, i'm going to have to look around.  Use my brain.  Figure out how to do things differently...

...see, this whole time that i've been posting my work on DeviantArt, i've been under the mindset that i'm practicing, improving my skills, and creating a portfolio in hopes that one day, when i'm good enough, i'll magically get some full-time dream job.  As the years have gone by, i've... had no success with that.  And hell, i don't want to move to California or Florida anyway, those places are horrible.

In the meantime, i see how other artists and other content producers are carving out their own niches, doing things their way, and making a good living without depending on some giant corporation to notice them.  Artists are doing this, as well as video producers like Doug Walker and my beloved Drunken Peasants, Etsy craftspeople, and all other sorts of artists.  Have i been guilty of stodginess?  Old-fashioned thinking?

Could i use my talents in a more canny way, to be a success on my own?

I'd like to set up a Patreon at some point, but i first need a better idea of what i'd create.

I could sell packets of files on E-Junkie.  If i can produce work that people would pay for.

I've always kept my commission rates very low, because there's only so much you can ask of one person.  I'd be much happier if i could get more money from a larger number of people and produce work that appeals to certain fandoms.  Tasakeru828 was mentioning this "Bad End Cure" thing, and i could see myself drawing lots of sexy corruption art.... if people were willing to chip in.

Possibilities are greater now than ever.  I just need to be smart and dedicated enough to find them.

And yes, this might mean that i'd have to stop giving everything away for free here.  That would be painful for me, because it's my natural instinct to just SHARE everything i do so people can SEE it.

What do you think?

Would you pay $5.00 per month to have access to my drawings?  Pay for specialized groups of images, perhaps some delightfully shameless and kinky stuff?

I'd like to know.  Tell me your thoughts.

Everyone always says "sorry, I'm broke," but when i see artists with $1,400 Patreon funds, and artists charging $100 for a single character commission -- it's clear that people are willing to pay for what we do.
